BREAKING: Walt Disney World Removing Temperature Checks from Theme Parks and Resorts

In what sounds like it will be a joint effort, Orlando area theme parks will be reducing COVID-19 safety protocols.

Walt Disney World Resort was the first to make the move, announcing that they will be removing mandatory temperature checks from theme park entrances and more, beginning for cast members on May 8th and then for guests on May 16th.

The Orange County Department of Health stated on April 30th that temperature checks were no longer needed for businesses, and in fact were a waste of resources.

Temperature checks have been required at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks since they reopened in July 2020, and they have been in place at Disney Springs since it reopened in May 2020.

Great news! 1 step closer to normal. Never had an issue with the temp checks on previous trips, just happy they’re moving forward

Too bad the “You can’t trespass me” guy at Disney Springs missed it by a few weeks. Sad all around.

For crying out just go ahead and do it now. Why do they need to delay this another few weeks.

Wow… As a heart patient I find this selfish and careless. I am regretting the tickets I just purchased for the Anniversary party

Temperature checks have been under discussion for a while as something that doesn’t do much to help, especially not in comparison to social distancing and mask guidelines. I’m someone who’s all for wearing a mask at the parks and elsewhere to keep others safe, but if you’re so at risk that a lack of a temp check makes you feel unsafe, you absolutely should not be going to Disney right now.

I also have been fine with measures taken, but the temp thing has always been strange. In my family, several of us “run hot” so our normal temp is 99-100 range. Add sun and heat and we can be over 100 and not sick. However, one of my children run cold and a 99.5 temp would mean she is very sick. 98.6 is just an “average” temp. And as you noted, a lack of temp does not mean you are not carining the virus. We also do need to start working back some of this stuff. We can all get… Read more »

How is it selfish or careless?
Explain to all of us who do follow real science, how temp checks have benefitted anyone?

So you want them to keep COVID restrictions forever? If you’re scared just don’t go.

Uh …that’s in October. If you think Covid will still be a thing 5 months from now and need temp checks, masks and distancing at that point, please cancel and free up the park reservation for others who are rational. I think everybody knew that even as the “science” started dictating that restrictions should/could be phased out and then eliminated there would be those who desperately need to cling on to those restrictions indefinitely to feed their fears that were successfully nurtured over the last year. Not the rest of us. Vaccines either work, or they don’t. Antibodies after infection… Read more »

If you are afraid of breathing free, please don’t go out in public places. The rest of us aren’t afraid to breath free and aren’t crippled by fears. Breath free with no mask. Have no fears to be alive, covid19 is an infused version of the flu for some people. The world does not shut down due to flu why shut down for a different for because OWO wants to control the world? Open up America. Open up without restrictions. Live with kindness, respect, love and no fears. We all matter. We all need freedom. We are all worthed.

the temp checks were a complete waste of time, many asymptomatic persons have normal temperature & they get in the park and spread the goodness around

Get rid of the mask requirement please. Felt like a police state last fall. Not returning as long as suffocating masks are required. Overkill!

I would love to know if then temp checks resulted from anyone else being turned away.
