Work continues on the final Walt Disney World entrance archway to be painted for the 50th anniversary celebration this fall. EPCOT/World Center Drive has narrowed to one lane, westbound only, as work moves on to the center of the arch. The I-4 West exit was closed earlier this week in anticipation of the construction.
As we approached the entrance archway, the road narrowed to one lane.
Construction equipment and crew member vehicles are parked in the closed lanes as work moves further into the center of the entrance.
The “Welcome to Walt Disney World Resort” sign on the right has been completed, as well as Minnie Mouse and the pillars around her.
A team was actively working on adding a layer of primer to the main archway before painting begins. It will be painted blue with gold accents to match the 50th anniversary enhancements around the parks.
The 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort is October 1st, 2021, but the celebration will continue for 18 months.
This photo was captured yesterday, but gives us a closer look at Minnie, who is looking bold against the shades of blue and gold.
Work has not begun on Mickey Mouse. If the process from the previously completed archways continues, crews will work their way over to him toward the end of the project. The “Where Dreams Come True” banner will be replaced with “The Most Magical Place on Earth.”
