Work at TRON Lightcycle / Run is now focused mostly on removing construction supports. The construction supports were used during the assembly of the massive illuminated canopy structure. Now that the canopy structure is whole, the construction supports are no longer needed to sustain its integrity.
A ride on the recently reopened Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover gives us a good view of the canopy structure. In this section, all of the construction supports have been removed.
Construction materials and various boom lifts are still on-site.
The only remaining construction supports are located near the show building.
These brown towers will eventually be dismantled.
These photos show the white canopy structure and the gray roller coaster track.
Photos from near The Barnstormer show the removal progress.
As lifts are still being used inside the construction site, the track is covered in spots by a protective orange tarp.
TRON Lightcycle Run was originally planned to open for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in October 2021, but the attraction is still very far from completion. Keep checking WDWNT for more updates on TRON: Lightcycle / Run and other construction projects.
Are they going to actually cover the big box or are we stuck with a box we all must pretend we can’t see and has no theming?
Awesome! I love Tron:lightcycle run at the Magic Kingdom. It would be in my thrill list.
