PHOTOS: Vaccinated Universal Orlando Resort Guests Go Unmasked Indoors

As we confirmed May 28, vaccinated guests at Universal Orlando Resort no longer need to wear face masks indoors effective May 29. We visited Universal Orlando today to check out the mask guideline change. Guests are unmasked in indoor spaces for the first time in nearly a year.

The mask policy change is first seen on the digital message board at the parking garage booths.

The digital message informs guests that face coverings are optional for those who are vaccinated. Unvaccinated guests must still wear face coverings indoors.

A trio of updated safety signs further explains the safety advisory.

The wording on the safety advisory sign is similar to that on the parking garage digital message board. The poster also includes a physical distancing reminder.

The middle sign includes more specific details on the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance. The right sign is the same as the middle, but in Spanish.

Digital message boards above the ticket windows also display the new mask guidelines.

The ticket booth displays also remind guests to maintain physical distancing. Specific distancing recommendations were recently removed.

Once inside Universal Studios Florida, we headed to the Universal Studios Store. Guests were browsing without masks.

Inside the store, we did not see any guests wearing masks.

At TRANSFORMERS: The Ride, mostly maskless guests wait to enter the queue. Note that Team Members are still wearing face coverings.

The new safety advisory sign is also at the attraction entrance. Physical distancing markers can still be seen in the outdoor queue.

  1. Those pictures show children under 12, who clearly cannot be vaccinated, not wearing masks. Without actually checking vaccination, which they can’t, there’s no way to ensure it’s the vaccinated people going without. Allowing unvaccinated to go without masks is *not* following CDC guidelines or the science. Vaccines aren’t perfect, there’s still risk of infection, and children still can’t be vaccinated. This is premature and a bad call.

  2. It is wonderful to see some normal coming back, however how are we to know who is vaccinated and who isn’t? I am but my kids aren’t, I worry about trusting people to be honest about this and putting my family at risk.

  3. Hallelujah!!! Masks were never effective at slowing or stopping the spread of COVID-19. I love Universal Studios and hope to return maskless in September!!
