Walt Disney World Hiring Lifeguards, Housekeeping, Attractions, and More Cast Members

As Walt Disney World slowly increases capacity at the theme parks, more and more Cast Members are needed throughout the resort. Walt Disney World has posted several new job openings for both full-time and part-time positions. Check them out below.

Lifeguard, Part-Time

Job Summary:

Lifeguards are focused on ensuring the safety of our Guests by enforcing policies, rules, and regulations of Recreation locations while also answering Guest questions. Lifeguards provides guidance to Guests, problem-solving, and work in a cooperative team environment. Lifeguards will maintain the general cleanliness of the pool areas, including removing towels and arranging chairs & tables. Lifeguard Cast Members respond to various incidents and will be trained on Infant, Child and Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to respond to Guest and Cast emergencies.

The new hire will receive paid training to obtain their Lifeguards certification through Ellis and Associates, Inc. The certification training is conducted over three consecutive days.

Lifeguard Hosts and Hostesses receive a starting rate of $14.25/hour for shallow water, and $15.25/hour for deep water.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Guests in recreational areas and provide constant surveillance of pool areas to ensure Guest safety and act as a first responder to emergency situations
  • Enforce policies, rules and regulations of the Recreation locations
  • Participate in regular in-service training
  • Perform life saving techniques, C.P.R and first aid procedures in emergency situations
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time while monitoring the pool deck
  • Work in outdoor settings during various weather conditions
  • Clear pool deck of used towels, lifejackets, and trash
  • Maintain and exchange used and clean towel bins
  • Engage and Greet Pool Guests
  • Proactively address Guest needs by answering questions, giving directions and other information about the resort or surrounding areas
  • Maintain overall upkeep of all cabanas
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required
  • Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Part-time requires full availability for any shift, a MINIMUM of (3) THREE days per week, including nights and holidays
  • Strong observational skills to proactively identify Guest needs and ensure safety guidelines are being followed
  • Strong verbal communication skills (able to positively engage with Guests, Cast Members, and leadership)
  • Must be able to observe all sections of an assigned zone
  • Pass a vision screening with at least 20/25 vision, corrected or uncorrected
  • Pass a hearing screening at the time of hire to validate the ability to detect and respond to noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility
  • Lifeguard training is provided and must be successfully completed
  • Perform work that may involve lifting Guests, in and out of the pool up to 100 lbs or more with assistance
  • Deep Water Swim Test: ability to swim 200 yards, tread water without using hands for 2 minutes, feet-first dive to retrieve a 10-pound brick from a depth of 8 feet
  • Shallow Water Swim Test: ability to swim 50 yards, feet-first dive to retrieve a 10-pound brick from a depth of 5 feet
  • Physical role requiring heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and kneeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Lifeguarding or Swimming Instructor experience preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Full-Time roles require FULL AVAILABILITY for any shift, seven (7) days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Housekeeping, Full-Time

Job Summary:

Housekeepers are focused on creating magic for our Guests during their Walt Disney World® Resort stay by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness & Guest Service. The Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning Guest rooms, including stripping and making beds, vacuuming, dusting and replenishing items such as linens and amenities. Housekeepers will monitor work orders, use a SmartPhone device to respond to Guest requests, and report maintenance needs.

Housekeeping receive a starting rate of $16.00/hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean Guest rooms by making bed(s), vacuuming, emptying trash, wiping down keyboards, televisions, alarm clocks, telephones, and dusting all surfaces
  • Clean bathrooms by scrubbing basins, bathtubs, shower walls and doors, toilets, and tile floors with proper chemicals when applicable
  • Transporting cart with cleaning supplies, amenities and linens to assigned Guest rooms. Maintain cleanliness of work areas and carts
  • Replenish all Guest amenities such as soaps and tissues
  • Clean windows, mirrors, glass table tops
  • Obtain necessary cleaning supplies from supply room
  • Report unusual room conditions or rooms in need of repair
  • Operate a SmartPhone device to access Guest room assignments and submit work orders
  • Work in outdoor settings during various weather conditions
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required
  • Cast Members will be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Complete tasks with proper use of equipment, tools or systems related to performance of assigned responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this role
  • Physical role requiring heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending twisting, and kneeling
  • Written and verbal communications skills
  • Full-Time requires full availability for any shift, any day, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Perform all job responsibilities safely using personal protective equipment
  • Comply with all department policies/procedures and service guarantees
  • Prolonged standing and walking to various areas of the resort to access and clean Guest rooms, including climbing stairs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual preferred
  • One (1) year of previous Housekeeping experience
  • Previous housekeeping responsibilities for 14-18 rooms a day
  • Knowledgeable of basic cleaning chemicals and equipment

Attractions/Custodial/Merchandise/Quick Service Foods, Part-Time

Job Summary:

As Cast Member working in either Attractions, Custodial, Merchandise or Quick Service Foods you will have opportunities to create memories across property working locations unique to the Walt Disney World® Resort Parks and Resorts.

Attractions:
Attractions Cast Members are focused on the safety of our Guest while creating magical experiences throughout their stay. Attractions Cast Members engage Guests, loading and unloading attractions, operating sophisticated ride systems, delivering narrations of varying lengths in front of large groups and providing audience control in different weather conditions.

Custodial:
Custodial Cast Members are focused on creating magic for our Guests during their Walt Disney World Resort stay by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness & Guest Service. Custodial Cast Members provide exceptional Guest Service by answering questions, providing directions while maintaining responsibilities that include sweeping, cleaning tables, emptying trashcans, cleaning restrooms, and using chemical supplies.

Merchandise:
Merchandise Cast Members are focused on creating a magical and enjoyable shopping experience by ensuring the highest standard of Guest Service. Merchandise Cast Members engage with Guest & Cast, working at several locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Responsibilities include operating a point-of-sale system (POS register), cash handling, stocking, inventory, and light cleaning.

Quick Service Foods:
Food & Beverage Quick Service Restaurant Cast Members are focused on creating a magical and enjoyable dining experience by ensuring the highest standard of Guest Service. Food & Beverage Quick Service Restaurant Cast Members will work in a fast pace environment at either an indoor counter service or at an outdoor vending location taking orders, cash handling, food preparation, stocking condiments, and keeping the work location clean.

Pay rates start at $14.00 per hour and may vary depending on the role offered.

Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities for Attractions/ Custodial/ Merchandise/ Quick Service Foods:

  • Proactively engage with Guest and addressing needs by answering questions, giving directions and providing other information about the theme park or surrounding areas
  • Provide Guest Service when problems arise and help find solutions with Guests and Cast Members
  • Cast Members will handle cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness of public areas and Guest corridors
  • Work in outdoor settings during various weather conditions
  • Operate a SmartPhone device to access assignments and submit work orders
  • Take ownership during emergency situations
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required.
  • Prolong standing to perform and maintain crowd control during peak operational hours in outdoor settings during different weather conditions

Attractions or Custodial may also include:

  • Prolong standing and walking to various areas of the ride track to include including climbing several flights of stairs
  • Enforce policies, verifying vehicle restraints, and ride restrictions to include monitoring and measuring children at height stations

Merchandise or Quick Service Foods may also include:

  • Passion and knowledge of Disney Products
  • Process Guest orders accurately through a point-of-sale system (POS register), including; counting money, making change, and processing credit card transactions
  • Use a pallet jack, forklift, or other devices to move inventory
  • Rotation between indoor & outdoor kiosk locations in different weather conditions
  • Food preparation & assembly of food products including but not limited to beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish, gluten, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, and dairy products
  • Maintain food safety standard
  • Understand and explain menu offerings to Guest and answer questions about the food products

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this role
  • Good communication skills
  • Physical roles requiring heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and kneeling
  • Observational skills to proactively identify Guest needs and ensure safety guidelines are being followed
  • Part-Time requires full availability for any shift, a MINIMUM of three (3) days per week, including nights and holidays
