Although physical distancing is being removed and reduced throughout Walt Disney World, it is still being encouraged on transportation. Monorails have seen a number of changes since the resort reopened last summer, including the addition of plastic dividers earlier this year, cutting each Monorail compartment into numbered sections. Each party is then assigned their own section to sit in.

It seems Disney is still trying to perfect this system and isn’t planning on removing distancing on the Monorails any time soon. New markers have been added to the compartment sections on Monorail Blue.

The markers say “please wait here”, indicating guests should remain in their assigned section.

Standing was previously discouraged, with only two adults assigned to each section, and larger parties split up throughout the compartment. According to Cast Members, parties of three are now allowed in each section, with two sitting and one standing.

These markers remind the standing guest to stay in their own area, maintaining a proper physical distance from the other parties. It’s likely the dividers will come down soon, and guests will be trusted to distance based on these markers instead.

Right now, only the Resort and Express Monorails are running around Magic Kingdom. The EPCOT line remains closed.
