REVIEW: 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics Rice Bowl Booth at Universal Studios Florida

We’re back at Universal Studios Florida to check out one of the Tokyo Summer Olympics food booths at the Music Plaza. We went over to the rice bowl booth to try out all the bowl dishes and some sake. After the first booth brought disappointment, we didn’t expect much. Let’s see how these dishes turned out!

The rice bowl booth is pictured on the left side above. It’s located at the edge of the music plaza, near the restrooms and Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.

All of the dishes were prepared fresh when we ordered.

The char siu in the rice bowl was a huge improvement over the roll we tried earlier. The pork was sticky, sweet, and perfect.

The char siu pork rice bowl was the gold medal winner from this booth by far. We will be back for more before the end of the Olympic season.

Tofu Rice Bowl – $13.99

The tofu wasn’t bad, but the crispy tofu from the broth bowl we had earlier was better.

There’s nothing wrong with this dish, but it came in 3rd for us.

The lemongrass chicken had an excellent, bold flavor.

Even though it couldn’t beat out the char siu pork, the chicken came in solidly at second place.

Moonstone Coconut Lemongrass Sake – $11

Modern nigori flavored sake with a rich, creamy texture

We weren’t fans of the sake’s creamy coconut taste. If you like very strong alcohol, you’ll enjoy this, but it was just too much for us.

Overall, we highly recommend the rice bowls. The base components were fresh and fantastic. The marinated cucumbers have a slightly sweet, tart taste, and the spicy Mayo packs a powerful kick. The sticky rice was also perfect. You really can’t go wrong with any of the three. They’re flavorful and a nice change of pace from the typical theme park fare.
