UPDATE: Witness Reports No Immediate Security Response for Guests Who Jumped From Living With the Land Boat

After we broke the story that a guest jumped from a boat on Living with the Land in Epcot to try to steal a cucumber from the greenhouse, we received additional details around the episode from a reader who was riding right behind these guests.

According to Meghan Gorny, “We were in the boat and witnessed everything. The guy that got out to ‘help’ her had jumped out of the boat several times during the ride, starting by the farm scene. The entire group was also leaning out of the boat and grabbing sand and throwing it,  including holding the small child with them out of the boat so that she could grab sand.”

By the time the guest tried to grab the cucumber, there had already been repeated disruptive behavior by the guest’s party.

Most disappointing, there was barely any response to the situation, and the guests were not approached by security when they exited the ride. According to Gorny, “The CMs did make an announcement to keep arms and legs inside the boat once. We were very surprised that there was absolutely no security or anyone there to escort them out of the park when we got off the ride.”

Gorny also sent an additional video snippet showing the cucumber incident from where she sat on the ride.

  1. Ugh how do they think they have the right to do that. Looking forward to more info on cucumbergate.

  2. These cretins should be punished to fullest extent by Disney. No doubt these are the undesirable “day guests” that I have been warning everyone about for quite some time now. Hopefully Disney will see the why it’s necessary to limit what areas of the parks they have access too and keep them isolated from making any contact with the innocent families and other protected groups such as the one my partner and I belong to while on Disney property. These people are no doubt a menace and should be eliminated from enjoying anything on WDW property.

  3. Seriously? People spend a lot of money to come to Disney and not have this kind of magic ruining experience. The people involved should be banned for life – those who recorded this definitely need to be thanked properly by Disney.

  4. We had a similar situation on the Little Mermaid ride a few weeks ago. A HUGE party (half of which skipped ahead of us to meet with the other half in line) we’re riding before us. A guy hopped out of his clamshell and didn’t return. We weren’t sure where he went, but the ride was stopped for a good ten minutes with cast members walking back and forth. After the ride ended, the family – blocking the exit no less – were all seemingly happy, getting ready to move to the next ride. We were baffled.

    • I guess some guests have more rights than others – I experienced the same at MK the cast member stopped me to enter the emporium (it was when capacity limits were still there) and my friend and I stopped while another guy told the cast member that he doesn’t want to wait the cast member replied that he has to enforce the rules but let the guy entered .. while keeping us outside… we were baffled to see that rules doesn’t applied to all the same way…not magic

  5. Obviously. This group should have been met & immediately escorted off property after the ride.
Inexcusable lack of response by Disney.

  6. Disgusting. Where is Disney on this??? The Guest should be banned, had multiple violations that warrants it.

    • None of the larger corporations have the balls to stand up to people like this for fear of being out of favor.
