Hey there, hi there, ho there! We headed into both parks of the Disneyland Resort to check out all the new happenings now that the Halloween season has really gotten underway. Join us!
Disney California Adventure
The Oogie Boogie Bash will be running on select nights in September and October, and the park was all a flutter with preparations and photo ops for the occasion. This one on Buena Vista Street is all about the candy, and was available for daytime guests to enjoy outside of party hours.
The Dr. Facilier throne photo op, however, was behind locked gates and only available to after hours partygoers.
We have been trying to get our hands on one of these Oogie Boogie macarons for days, and they’ve always been sold out. This morning, we were lucky enough to snag one to go along with our morning coffee. You can read all our thoughts on this treat here.
Shang-Chi has arrived in Avengers Campus to greet recruits from the second floor of the Avengers Compound. And where Shang-Chi goes, Death Dealer is sure to follow. Guests can catch these two sparring on the upper level balcony several times a day, and you can catch their little duel on our YouTube channel, right here:
Nearby at Terran Treats, guests can take a look at some of the props and costumes from the film in shipping containers before they’re shipped off world and added to the Tivan Collection.
Close to Avengers Campus lies the Backlot Premiere Shop, home to tons of Avengers merchandise. We found a couple of new Captain America shirts there, perfect for the last few days of baseball season.
Outside the Backlot Premiere Shop, we noticed some construction walls have gone up in front of the dining area near Mickey’s Philharmagic. This blocks off the area that was, at one time, the entrance to Muppet Vision 3D.
After all this hero work, we had to stop in for a bite at Plaza de la Familia, home to the “Coco”-centric celebration of Dia de los Muertos. We tried some of the returning menu items, and also this new Ensalada de Frutas.
In Pixar Pier, we found some new Coco merchandise to look your best for your returning ancestors on Dia de los Muertos.
Downtown Disney
As we headed between the parks, we took a stroll downtown to see what’s new in Downtown Disney District. This mural outside the former ESPN Zone is a perfect photo op for the season.
Across the way at the former AMC theater, banners have been hung for the 31 Nights of Halloween on Freeform.
Several posters have been hung in the movie poster frames and across the ticket booth as well.
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is on now, and we caught some of the character pumpkins as soon as they were installed. You can read all about the whole pursuit right here.
At World of Disney, we found some ghoulish goodies for the season.
Disneyland
Upon entering the Happiest Place on Earth, we immediately spotted some new balloons for the Halloween season. These match the art found on much of this year’s Halloween apparel and housewares.
And for nuiMOs fans, you can deck out your little friend in Halloween attire as well with this new line of clothes for the season.
Tarzan’s Treehouse is still under a major refurbishment, with more scaffolding being added.
Big Thunder Mountain has also closed for a scheduled refurbishment.
“it’s a small world” Toy Shop has some new construction walls as well. These extend outside to the planters and even inside the shop, blocking off entry/exit points.
Between the Toontown tunnel refurbishment and the toy shop refurbishment, it’s a wonderland of construction walls.
And up in Toontown, the major construction going on for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway has made some progress. These steel beams are likely going to hold the rolling hills backdrop that will cover the massive building, as seen in the concept art below.
Over in Tomorrowland, we stopped in to Little Green Men Store Command to find these cool Nightmare Before Christmas pins.
And we noticed another change, one that is bittersweet. The FastPass machines that once served Star Tours have been removed. As the Genie+ service release draws nearer, these disused machines from a cancelled program are superfluous and are going to start being removed all over the resort.
Thanks for riding along with us. We’ll see ya real soon!
