PHOTOS: Mary Blair Mural Installed, Artwork Moved To NEW Disney’s Contemporary Resort Lobby

Last updated:

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is still undergoing a lengthy refurbishment, but the end is looking near as scrim has been recently removed from its exterior, curtains are being put away, and now artwork is being set in the main entryways.

Walking into the resort from the main front entrance where the original lobby is, a new mural can be see around the pillar behind the walls.

It is only partially lit it appears, as a large ceiling tile and lighting fixture is missing on the upper right.

Further down, you can see another column glowing brightly just beyond the first.

A rooster in Mary Blair style can be seen, reminiscent to some birds seen in the Grand Canyon Concourse mural, and even the one on “it’s a small world”.

To the right of the main entrance where Contemporary Grounds is, a few new frames of work have also been placed featuring what else but coffee cups.

Down the long hallway that was previously covered with an extended black curtain, more framed art sits on the refurbished wall.

These appear to be repurposed art from around the hotel, not moved into on place. We specifically recognize the Andy Warhol pieces from our stay in the Presidential Suite last year.

More modern and contemporary pieces in simplistic frames line part of the hallway that is complete.

The newly completed wall is freshly painted awaits further art pieces.

Further down, the black curtain still remains on part of the hallway that is still under refurbishment or being painted near the new lighting fixtures recently installed.
