PHOTOS: New 50th Anniversary Banners Featuring Mary Blair Concept Art Installed at Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom
We’re inching ever closer to the kickoff to “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” marking Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and the latest additions to the decorations in the Magic Kingdom focus on the main icon of the park, Cinderella Castle.
Around the castle, new rose gold banners have been raised with an ornate pattern resembling the ribbons that the mice used to help make Cinderella’s dress in the classic 1950 film.
Meanwhile, over on the surrounding turrets, the same pattern surrounds a “50” being carried by blue birds, accented with a pink ribbon.
On the far edge of the castle border (facing the park Hub), other banners show concept art from the film by Disney Legend Mary Blair.
Scenes depicted include the Fairy Godmother turning a pumpkin into a gorgeous coach, Cinderella meeting Prince Charming at the ball, and the search for Cinderella after the prince has fallen in love.
For Disney history buffs, this is a unique way to enjoy Blair’s one-of-a-kind style, while honoring the stories that have inspired Walt Disney World since the resort’s beginning.
