New Year’s Eve Fireworks Likely Returning to Walt Disney World Theme Parks This Year

With Walt Disney World theme park hours available through the end of the year, we now know that three of the parks will be open until at least midnight on New Year’s Eve. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there were no New Year celebrations at the end of 2020, but it seems likely there will be midnight fireworks at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios given that fireworks in general have returned to the parks.

Though the parks are listed as closing at midnight, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT historically close at 1:00 a.m., allowing guests a little extra time to celebrate. Park hours may be extended before we reach December 31.

Magic Kingdom is also listed as closing at midnight on December 30 and in the past has had New Year’s Eve fireworks on both nights. Historically, an altered version of “Fantasy in the Sky” is performed.

2019 was the first and only time Disney’s Animal Kingdom stayed open until midnight on New Year’s Eve. For now, it is listed as closing at 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2021.
