Disney Genie+ arrives tomorrow, and part of the features include Disney PhotoPass AR Lenses, included in the $15 per ticket per day fee. Now Disney has revealed some of the special Lenses and features that will be available for guests who purchase Genie+.

Disney characters and park icons will come to life in augmented reality photo moments. Disney has collaborated with Snap to bring the new Lenses to the My Disney Experience App (and some will be available complimentary on Snapchat for a limited time).

You can transform into villains and interact with your favorite characters using the special AR lenses. Disney considers the new AR lenses a way to “bridge the physical and digital worlds in what we call the ‘theme park metaverse’ to further immerse our guests in experiences they cannot find anywhere else.”

As we reported earlier, you’ll be able to transform Cinderella Castle to snap photos of yourself in front of the 25th anniversary Castle Cake or see it under construction from before the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971.

Some lenses, like the Cinderella Castle and Remy lenses, require guests to be in certain locations in order to use them. Others will remain available up to 45 days after your visit, including one featuring the iconic spaghetti scene from “Lady and the Tramp,” as seen in the video above.

Regular PhotoPass opportunities will still be available throughout the parks.

Disney also notes the following: “Many Disney PhotoPass Lenses use technology that detects the coordinates of key points on a Guest’s face and/or hands and may be used only by Guests 18 years of age and older who have consented to use of this technology. Therefore, Guests unable to provide such consent, as well as Guests under 18 years of age, will have fewer lenses available to use.”
