Walt Disney World Files Permit to Re-Route Floridian Way Near Magic Kingdom, Possibly Making Room for Long-Rumored New Resort Hotel

Walt Disney World has filed a permit with the South Florida Water Management District as part of the ongoing construction surrounding World Drive in front of the Transportation and Ticket Center. The project aims to improve traffic flow heading into Magic Kingdom and surrounding resorts.

This new permit shows plans to re-route Floridian Way around a parking lot across from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. This will create a larger patch of land open between Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, possibly for a future project. The space would allow room for a new resort, such as the rumored volcano-themed resort or other similar projects.

That said, nothing has been announced for the area.
