Zach Ridley, a Walt Disney Imagineer, just posted to Instagram that new “alien” trees and landscaping are currently being installed at World Discovery in EPCOT.

New landscaping and “alien” trees are currently being installed including a “Mast” tree (Monoon longifolium). These will help the transition to the Wonders of Xandar pavilion and the future home of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

Another Imagineer, Rachel Lambdin, was also with Zach to help choose the locations of these new trees and landscaping.

The other species of trees being installed is the Plum Pine (Podocarpus). These Plum Pines go way back to the early days of EPCOT. It’s nice to see the Imagineering team bringing back classic design elements to EPCOT.

  1. From reading the Instagram post embedded in this article, it’s clear Rachel was the Imagineer in charge of selecting and siting of the trees—not someone who was “also there to help” Zach as the article suggests. Zach serves as an insider blogger showing cool stuff that various Imagineers are doing all around the parks.
