At Tokyo Disney Resort, not only does New Year’s Day herald plenty of celebration, but the festivities actually extend for a couple of weeks at the beginning of the year! This year, New Year’s will feature plenty of souvenir merchandise with Chandu (as it’ll be the Year of the Tiger), a few treats, and of course the special New Year’s greetings at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

As is tradition, greetings both along the parade route at Tokyo Disneyland and on the waters of Mediterranean Harbor at Tokyo DisneySea will feature Mickey, Minnie, and the other Disney friends in their traditional Japanese kimono and other traditional garb to celebrate the new year. The January 1st greeting at Tokyo Disneyland will also feature the new ambassador to the Tokyo Disney Resort, Mika Ogasawara.

Special meals at Restaurant Hokusai and Restaurant Sakura, as well as a souvenir pudding and mug at counter service restaurants resort-wide will be available.

Sadly, the New Year’s Countdown Party has been cancelled for New Year’s Eve, however.

It’s always a pleasure to see Tokyo Disney Resort embrace local Japanese culture, and we’re looking forward to another New Year’s at the parks. Are you excited? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!
