Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Marks First Disney Nighttime Parade to Alter Iconic ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls’ Announcement for Inclusivity

In order to be more inclusive of non-binary genders, the opening announcement for Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade: DreamLights has replaced “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” with “Good evening and welcome, one and all.”

You can hear the altered announcement in our video above or directly on Twitter.

The opening announcement will likely be changed when Main Street Electrical Parade returns to Disneyland Resort as well. “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” was removed from fireworks spectaculars at Disneyland and Walt Disney World earlier this year, as well as from all announcements at the Tokyo Disney Resort. The words had been part of the iconic opening announcement to the Main Street Electrical Parade since its 1972 debut at Disneyland, and used in every iteration worldwide since.

  1. So sad. At this rate, “one and all” will be next on the block for cancellation for excluding people who see themselves as not an individual or encompassed by “all”. You can never appease the woke movement.
