Disney’s Old Key West Resort Replacing Conch Fritters With Shrimp Fritters

Disney’s Old Key West Resort is replacing their classic conch fritters, which have been available since the resort first opened, with shrimp fritters.

The shrimp fritters will be available at both Olivia’s Cafe and Gurgling Suitcase Libations & Spirits. The change is to help support sustainable seafood initiatives.

  1. No good. Hubby can eat these, but allergic to shrimp. Been a go-to at Olivia’s since the resort opened, and now -POOF-Gone. Too bad fans. Forget everything that used to be.

  2. A few years ago I would have been very sad about this.
I’ve owned DVC at Old Key West since 2007 and always got & loved the conch fritters.
But a few years back I noticed the recipe had seemed to change. They’d become much more “dough balls” than conch fritters. It became pretty clear the recipe had changed. Perhaps the difficulty in obtaining sufficient quantities of conch explains why.
We decided we’d pass on them next time we were at Olivia’s or Gurgling Suitcase.
But now, we’ll definitely have to give the shrimp fritters a whirl.

  3. There goes another piece of the diversity in Disney cuisine
The restaurant menus are all becoming the same to save money
    Along with the smaller portions
The conch fritters and chowder gave the menu items not found
    Elsewhere
Now the difference change based on sauce on the same size
    Chicken beef or fish entree.
    Time to go elsewhere
