It’s a sad Friday the 13th for horror fans at Universal Studios Florida as the Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Café has permanently closed.

Universal Orlando Resort confirmed the closure this morning, stating: After more than 20 years of serving dreadfully-delicious quick-service menu offerings, Monster’s Café in Universal Studios Florida permanently closed in the spring of 2022 to make way for a new dining experience.

The Café had several dining rooms, each themed to different Classic Monsters. The main room where the service counters are located has a laboratory theme. In the background of the photo above, you can see part of the “Rita” in the Creature From the Black Lagoon room.

  1. I mean it kind of makes sense, right? With epic universe being built they have an opportunity to place that in the new classic monsters land and rebuild it bigger and better there? Now what do we speculate will replace it in the old park? Maybe a dreamworks themed restaurant?

  2. That’s really to bad! We loved visiting that place. Food was so-so, but the decor was great. I wonder if they’re consolidating to the Epic Universe Monster area? But it will be a long time before that opens…

  3. Noooooooo we love this place 😢!!! Such a great restaurant! It was so well made inside and very cool looking. Food was yummy!

    • More then likely it’ll be updated and moved into the Universal Classic Monsters area of Epic Universe

  4. Sad day indeed. My wife and I always made sure to eat there every time we go to Universal Studios Orlando. Great food and the atmosphere was awesome. Loved everything about it.
Hopefully, the replacement will be another classic Universal Studios Monster themed restaurant that will be even better, and not another bad mistake like when y’all took out the Twister attraction and put in that ridiculous Jimmy Fallon crapfest.

  5. Saw it for the first time this spring. Huge thumb up from a big Uni Monster fan. 2025 will be here before you know it.

  6. I can’t believe this! Why would they take this out?! My partner and I were just there (in December?) and had The Best food in the park! Jackfruit sandwiches 😋 We loved the classic monster theme And the food. I’m kind of heartbroken 😢 He will be, too.

  7. this sucks – it was a favorite spot and it makes sense why the week I was there it was closed the entire time. When you plan a trip every 3 or 4 years apart it’s a kick in the pants.

  8. I dont know if anybody knows this but it was those monsters who saved Universal from going belly up in the 1930s. They need to open another Classic Monsters cafe in the upcoming monsters land at Epic.
