Disney Breaking Timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge With Introduction of Disney+ and Legacy Characters

With today’s introduction of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, Disney is disrupting the timeline of the land for the first time.

Until now, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has remained strictly set between Episodes 8 and 9 of the “Star Wars” saga. Characters who appeared on Batuu included Kylo Ren and Rey. Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, the Mandalorian, and Grogu (the latter two will appear in the land soon) are from an earlier era of the galaxy far, far away. Their Disney+ shows are set a few years after Episode 6, “Return of the Jedi.”

Disney stated in the announcement that the Disney+ characters “will remain in their specific story and timeline and won’t intersect with other characters or stories that would not be appropriate for them.” That means we won’t see Boba Fett and Rey hanging out.

It is possible Boba, Fennec, the Mandalorian, and Grogu are still alive by the events of “The Last Jedi,” but they probably wouldn’t look the same as they do in their shows.

This opens the door to other classic “Star Wars” characters appearing in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge later on, with schedules that keep them from ever running into someone that shouldn’t be born for another twenty years.

At this time, Disney has only confirmed these appearances for Disneyland Resort.

How do you feel about Disney breaking the timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? Are there any characters you’re hoping to see in the future? Let us know in the comments.

  1. With the news of charters like Mando and Boba being added the galaxy’s edge as walk arounds I feel like Disney are starting to break the original idea of galaxy’s edge that being well being immersed into Batuu and Black Spire outpost and their abandoning the idea of being in a fixed time frame and trading it for a cheap flavor of the month charter selection to promote waht ever show is new on Disney plus or if you want to put it different their trying to take one of the cheaper more sure fire things that made avenger’s campus successful and apply these to galaxy’s edge which doesn’t work because well the star wars galaxy and universe doesn’t operate on the multiverseal timeline that the MCU dose. But I know the basic reasoning that this is happening is because of how galaxy’s edge is themed around the sequels and I know that the sequels are not that good or really good at all depending on who you ask but I dont feel that’s enough reason for the best themed and most immersive land in maybe all of the park expect for you Seas but with things like Rise you can make something extremely successful even with an section of IP that people hate. But that brings me back to walk arounds I think the whole reason this is a problem is because we weren’t given what we were promised that that we weren’t given the roaming droids, aliens bounty hunters ands so many other things that Chapeak promised to us at that 2015 D23 and I feel that if were given that we wouldn’t be in this situation right now where we have to sacrifice immersion and theming for walk arounds. And my last point is that Disney has had so much success in the past when they just create their own original charters and actually push them and it doesn’t seem like we as fan need much to be pleased when it comes to characters I mean we lose own collative minds when a funny charming purple dragon exists in a ride and look at what it makes us do wait in a 5 hour line to get a popcorn bucket shaped like that dragon and it wouldn’t even be that hard to implement interesting characters you know what I would do for a Hondo meet and greet or like any of the market place store owners like Disney has full 3d molds of charters like Mubo ,Seezelslak, Lens Kamo and her pet partner thing they make sense and their really cool too they would be introducing them to a new audience and with things like the new goliath project Disney working on I feel like it would pretty easy to do a lot of them but Disney can also do something called waiting I grantee you that there will be a series like the clones wars but for the sequels and in that show they can do something called use side charters and devolve the ones you all ready have and make them likeable to the public and then use them to fill galaxy’s edge with walk arounds I mean look were we are right now back when they were realized people hated the prequels and hated the charters but look everyone is excited for the next episode of Kenobi and are exited to see Hayden Christianson back as Darth Vader I mean the Star Wars fanbase used to hate him but look were we are now wanting more from people and charters whose success was never realized because of a bad writer or director but in the end please dont fill galaxy’s edge with cheap flavor of the months this isn’t Marvel this is one timeline with fixed dates with charters that lived in specific times but in the end they took away alot of the greetings and other things dont let them take away the immersion we got the names in Docking bay back we can get immersion back but until then till the spire.

  2. This is incredible. As far as timeline goes this seems like the best way to handle it. They could even rotate week by week or something. Week one sequel trilogy (current timeline) week two Disney+ time frame, week 3 prequel trilogy etc etc. They could swap out storm troopers and first order banners based on era etc.

The challenge for WDW would be Galactic star cruiser. But technically the halcyon existed that whole time, so they could make the same swaps. You’ll have sold out “Empire” cruises in no time.

Attn WDI, I’m looking for work.

  3. I think this is a good move and way past due. Rey and Kylo are great, but Disney+ has a massive hit on their hands with The Mandolorian, and I thought it was bonkers that those characters aren’t also wandering around Batuu. Next, they should consider adding Darth Vader, Ahsoka, Darth Maul, C-3PO, and so many other popular characters who would delight guests.
