Staging Area Set Up as Blizzard Beach Refurbishment Begins

Last month, we reported that Disney had filed a permit for a laydown yard at Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park. A laydown yard is where equipment, vehicles, and tools are stored during a construction project. The yard seems to be supporting the refurbishment of nearby attractions, and we could see some construction vehicles and materials at the water park this week.

Before reaching the laydown yard, we saw some wood piled in the Blizzard Beach parking lot.

There was also a storage crate and a dismantled red crane.

We glimpsed the laydown yard past a swampy area off Buena Vista Drive.

A temporary yellow fence blocks some of the wetter sections of the woods.

In the distance were red-orange and green construction vehicles.

The construction vehicles and materials were behind a more permanent chain-link fence.

Wrapped black tubes sat next to a green structure. Behind the laydown yard, you can see a brown wall and water slides in the park.

To the right are green dumpsters and more storage containers.

Disney did not announce exactly which rides are receiving refurbishment. The laydown yard is closest to Runoff Rapids on the Red Slopes and Downhill Double Dipper, Snow Stormers, and Toboggan Racers on the Purple Slopes.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach closed for its annual refurbishment earlier this year. It was originally scheduled to reopen in March, but this was extended to May and may be extended further. Typhoon Lagoon remains open.
