Universal Studios Japan Announces New Year’s Eve ‘NO LIMIT! Countdown 2023’ Party Including 26-Hour Operation, Special Entertainment, & More

For the first time since 2019-20, Universal Studios Japan has announced the return of the annual New Year’s Eve Countdown Party, which will take place from 7:00p.m. December 31, 2022 through 9:00p.m. January 1, 2023!

The event features a massive fireworks display to mark the end of the old year and the beginning of a new year. Additionally, the park will be open for 26 straight hours so guests can ring in 2023 with their favorite attractions, and a special show will go on to celebrate all of the park’s entertainment and seasonal events from 2022, from shows like “Evolution of Dance with Sesame Street” to the scare zones from Halloween Horror Nights!

The main event is of course the countdown to the new year! During the “Countdown Moment”, more than 4,000 fireworks will be shot into the skies above Universal Studios Japan to celebrate the new year. The show takes place from 11:50p.m. on December 31 to 12:10a.m. on January 1.

During the event, the “Countdown Special Stage” one-night-only special show will feature a selection of the park’s most popular entertainment programs from each season in 2022, condensing the excitement of the entire year into 20 minutes!

Street entertainment like “Evolution of Dance with Sesame Street” which launched this spring will start off the show, followed by this summer’s “Minion Kung Fu Dance Dojo,” a kung fu dance show with the Minions and Kung Fu Master Achoo. After, a special a special countdown experience with the Straw Hat Pirates and the park’s original Age-Age Super Navy in a condensed version of the “One Piece Premiere Show.” From Halloween, the “Rat-Tat-Tat Dance,” makes its last-ever appearance at the park with terrifying zombies led by “Hamikuma.”

Other characters will also appear, including friends from the Minions, Peanuts, Sesame Street, and Hello Kitty. As well, Mario, and Luigi will make a special appearance from Super Nintendo World to bring the year to a close.

26-Hour Park Operation

During the NO LIMIT! Countdown Party, Universal Studios Japan will be open for a grand total of 26 hours, from 7:00p.m. on December 31 through 9:00p.m. on January 1! Guests with the special Party Pass can take advantage of this special extended operating time to ride attractions and see shows all across the park.

Please note that Super Nintendo World will be closed from 2:00a.m. to 6:00a.m. on January 1 for daily maintenance.

Party passes cost ¥12900 ($88.26) and grant entrance to Universal Studios Japan from 7:00p.m. on December 31. Regular guests including Annual Studio Passholders can enter the park starting at 2:00a.m. on January 1.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on November 4 on the official USJ website, at Lawson convenience store ticket kiosks nationwide, and at Universal Studios Japan partner hotels. Pre-sale windows are also available.

For guests wishing to purchase a VIP tour, Express Pass, or special dinner in connection with their evening at the park can apply for a special lottery right now on the park website. Those who apply for the lottery will also get to pre-purchase tickets to the event before the general public.
