Extended Queue Set Up, Long Line Forms for Pressed Pennies During Final Weekend of Splash Mountain’s Existence at Magic Kingdom

Tomorrow, January 22, 2023, will be the final operating date for Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom. In anticipation of a busy final two days, Cast Members have set up an extended queue for the attraction.

Ropes and stanchions extend the queue past the still-closed Briar Patch, around the corner to the Frontierland bridge.

Tape on the ground outlines the queue in areas where stanchions cannot be placed.

It’s a relatively cold day in Orlando, with temperatures between 59° and 70° F. Rain is also expected in the afternoon, so many guests may try to take their final ride on Splash Mountain tomorrow instead.

In Splashdown Photos, guests lined up to get Splash Mountain-themed pennies from the pressed penny machine.

It’s not clear if Splashdown Photos will also close on January 23 (we assume it will), but guests aren’t taking any risks when it comes to getting the only Splash Mountain souvenirs available. We assume the pressed pennies will be unavailable relatively soon, either way.

A closing date has not been announced for Splash Mountain in Disneyland. Both versions of the attraction will become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
