Although there’s no Disney property in Singapore, the famed global hub is getting in on the fun of the Disney100 celebration with some special festivities at the iconic Jewel Changi Airport mall, attached to the airport bearing the same name. There’s a special show, photo spots, and even a limited time character greeting!
Exclusively for the opening weekend from January 13 to 15, visitors to Jewel Changi Airport can meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Donald Duck in their Disney100 costumes! Greetings are available at 1:00p.m., 2:00p.m., 4:00p.m., and 5:00p.m., with wristband distribution 15 minutes prior to each window.
For the launch weekend from January 12 to 15, 2023, visitors can expect a dazzling new Light & Sound show, as well as surprise appearances by Disney characters. Jewel’s Light & Sound show at the HSBC Rain Vortex will take on a Disney theme in conjunction with the celebration. During the launch weekend, activities will kick off with a surprise performance, before Disney characters greet visitors and usher in a specially choreographed six-minute Disney100 Light & Sound Show at 7.30p.m. Featuring beloved Disney characters, the Light & Sound Show has been curated by Los Angeles based water feature design firm WET. Disney fans can sing along to a medley of songs including “When You Wish Upon A Star,” “A Whole New World,” “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” and the theme soundtrack from Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame.” Beyond the launch weekend, visitors will be able to watch a shorter version of the Disney100 Light & Sound Show that will run from January 16 to April 9, 2023.
Step through the Disney100 archway and emerge in front of a 4-meter-tall platinum statue of Mickey Mouse. And you can explore exclusive Disney-themed photo spots only on display in Singapore at Shiseido Forest Valley. Inspired by scenes from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars movies, these interactive photo spots are sure to bring back fond memories all while capturing new ones! In collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), four other photo spots have also been created with a local twist. Discover interesting elements of Singapore combined with intriguing features from some of Disney’s films such as Singapore’s national flower, Vanda Miss Joaquim, with the flowers seen in “Encanto,” as well as images of the red pandas residing in River Wonders with “Turning Red,” and more.
Most of these offerings, save for the character greeting, will be available through April 9 at Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore. This is the second Disney experience to take place in the city recently, with an “Avatar”-themed experience opening at the Cloud Forest within the Gardens by the Bay last fall. The nearest Disney property to the city-state is Hong Kong Disneyland some 1600 miles away.
