The walls of the tower atop the future Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk have been fully demolished to be rebuilt.
Most of the walls were removed earlier this month. The support structure for the tower remains.
The new tower walls will have large windows.
The walls of the restaurant beneath the tower have also mostly been torn down. Some sheathing is exposed on the side.
The basic structure of the building will remain for the Cake Bake Shop, but much of it has to be torn down before actual construction can begin.
The inside has also been completely demolished for a new interior.
The roof below the tower will also have windows, so we will probably see these shingles removed soon.
The roof of the tower was also completely removed.
The Cake Bake Shop will include a quick-service bakery and table-service restaurant with separate entrances. The old ESPN Club entrance will lead to the bakery.
The framework and white paneling from behind the ESPN Club sign were removed since our last construction update, exposing a steel frame over plywood.
Paneling has also been removed from the surrounding walls.
The Cake Bake Shop is scheduled to open sometime this year.
The concept art above shows how the refurbished building will be covered in windows and lights.
