After the cancellation of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as part of the Walt Disney Studios Park long-term expansion at Disneyland Paris, speculation about what could replace it has run rampant. Now given the success of “Avatar: The Way of Water” and Disney’s reinvigorated commitment to the franchise, it seems likely Pandora – The World of Avatar will win out against alternative options for the park.
Last September, we reported on a rumor that Pandora and “The Lion King” were the two major contenders to be the newest expansion to Walt Disney Studios Park. We initially believed the latter to be more likely as it would give Walt Disney Studios something unique against the other expansion plans like Arendelle — World of Frozen and Avengers Campus which borrow from expansion plans originally designed for Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Resort respectively.
But given the incredibly positive financial response to “Avatar: The Way of Water” last year and Disney’s sudden announcement of “a version of” Pandora – The World of Avatar coming to the Disneyland Resort, it seems likely the same project would also come to Disneyland Paris to fill that third empty spot in the expansion area.
How would you feel about seeing Pandora come to Disneyland Paris? Let us know in the comments below!

Empty empty… well, it was said that Star Wars would have its spot in the 3th spot, but yeah… some things might have changed.
As a European fan of Avatar, I hope Disney will make the right decision!
Pandora: World of Avatar in Paris would be a huge success, judging by the success of The Way of Water in all of Europe and especially France (13 million admissions so far)…
I would not assume Disney’s announcement about Avatar coming to Disneyland California means a Pandora Land and attractions. They will want to build the full Pandora and to do that they need space which will only be available when the Disneyland Forward project starts. Meanwhile, I’d expect Disneyland to build an Avatar restaurant in the Star Wars shop in Downtown Disney or a walk-thru in the Innovations building. As for the Paris studio park, Pandora is a very good guess as Disney does want to exploit Avatar with its box office success. Also consider the possibility of Pandora going into Shanghai.
But, as for the Paris studio park, I think it would be much better if the new areas around the lake focused only on princess stories. The esthetic would be much nicer. On either side of Arendelle could be Belle’s village, Encanto, Tangled, etc.
We’re just going by what Iger insinuated, but it could be something else.
I’m open to both the Lion King and Avatar but with the succses of Avatar at the box office I would put Avatar in first place.
Having seen the wdw versions of both galaxy edge and pandora, I see how galaxy edge would have been a better size fit. I’m not sure pandora would truly fit into the studios space and a cut down version would not give the immersive experience of the animal kingdom version . Unless Avatar comes up with some fresh story arcs I think the next few films will start to drop. They need to keep thinking.
