New Indiana Jones Adventure Signage Continues Month of Misspelling Mishaps at Disneyland

From the misspelling of “Lightning Lane” on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway preview signage to a number of incorrectly dated Disney100 banners in the Esplanade, the Disneyland Resort has been on quite the roll recently with signage mishaps within the parks. Now, new signage informing guests about the continued closure of Indiana Jones Adventure has joined that streak.

Among a series of signs put out for the attraction’s refurbishment, the notice above is the main culprit that appears to be in need of some proofreading. “Notice!” the sign reads. “No items may be removed from this sight [SIC] without written persmission [SIC] from Dr. Henry W. Jones, or the Board of Regents of the Archeology Department, Redford[SIC], Connecticut.”

“Sight” should, of course, be “site” to indicate the area under construction. Dr. Henry W. Jones, or “Indy”, will be providing written permission rather than “persmission.” Also, Indy was a professor in Bedford, Connecticut, not Redford.

The advertisement for a tour led by Sallah el-Kahir above also features a mistake, reading “with and [SIC] opportunity to partake.” The character is expected to appear in the upcoming “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the final film of the series.

Temple Tours will begin again this spring! This sign points to the attraction’s spring reopening, originally reported by WDWNT in early December. The refurbishment will include a new audio-animatronic for the King Cobra within the Temple of Mara in addition to much-needed TLC for a number of effects that have been rendered inoperable since the attraction opened 27 years ago.

This scroll features the attraction’s “Indiana Jones Adventure” logo, free from error. The attraction closed for an extended refurbishment on January 9. Disneyland has not yet disclosed an official reopening date, but cites “spring 2023” as the hopeful return of this thrill ride in search of Indiana Jones.

While the signage is a minor detail that would probably go unnoticed, the debut of a new series of Disney100 banners featured a number of grammar, spelling, and factual mistakes that have left guests to wonder how much thought went into the centennial celebration decor. Now, four of the Disney100 banners have been replaced to properly honor the milestones represented throughout the 100 Years of Wonder celebration, but the streak of misspelling mishaps seems to continue within Disneyland Park.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” is scheduled to be released on June 30 as the fifth and final Indiana Jones movie. The official trailer and artwork for the film debuted in December.

  1. Except the ‘COMING SOON’ banner does have an error… “with and (*should be AN*) opportunity to partake…” Maybe their proofreaders all quit??
