Lobby Remodeling Project Completed on Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, No Major Thematic Changes

The lobby refurbishment of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn that began last month has been completed with minimal changes. The middle concierge desk is now back open with easier access for both Cast Members and guests of all mobilities.

Walls, tarps, and barricades previously blocked this concierge desk but all have been removed. Openings have been added to the sides, making the station more accessible for both guests and Cast Members.

The artwork, shaded light sconces, and other thematic elements remain the same. The openings around the desk are the only major change.

The openings to the sides of the desks make it easier for people with wheelchairs or other assistive devices to move around them, as well as for Cast Members to exit their stations to assist guests. Similar updates have been made to other Walt Disney World Resort hotel lobbies.

The openings also make it easier for Cast Members to reach their stations, replacing the need to walk behind a singular counter that stretched the entire length of the room.

The planned refresh, which will include guest rooms, was announced in the spring of 2022

The lobby restrooms remain closed for refurbishment.

A sign with a map points guests to the nearest restrooms, inside Trattoria al Forno, near Side Show Games Arcade.

The lobby is the latest refurbishment project to begin at the BoardWalk Inn. Carousel Coffee opened nearby and The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers will soon be taking over the former ESPN Club building. These new additions will join the BoardWalk Deli, which opened during the summer of 2022.

The resort is modeled after turn-of-the-century boardwalks in such coastal cities as Coney Island and Atlantic City and Disney has stated they intend to keep this theme.
