Construction continues on Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as it undergoes a long refurbishment. Right now, construction is focused on the Sago Cay building near the walkway connecting the resort to Magic Kingdom, as well as on Narcoosee’s. The walkway is closed during construction.
Scaffolding surrounds Sago Cay and the stairwells on the side have been deconstructed. As we have seen with previous buildings, it won’t get a major theming change.
White picket fencing was recently installed around the side of the building next to the road. This stairwell is currently just a roof and two corners of the support frame. Paneling was also removed from the side of the building, exposing concrete and steel. The stairs will eventually be reconstructed.
The scaffolding covers the balconies of guest rooms, which are of course unavailable during construction.
Construction materials are staged on the lawn at the back of the Sago Cay building. Construction walls are around the edge of the lagoon.
We saw crew members working on the section of the building right at the lagoon’s edge.
Narcoossee’s will reopen on April 1, 2023, with an updated menu. Guests can currently visit The Grand Cottage in the Grand Floridian lobby for Easter treats.
