Beloved Muppets Kermit and Animal embarked on an after-hours tour of Disney’s Animal Kingdom in a new video celebrating Earth Month and the 25th anniversary of the park. Seen on the official Muppets and Disney Parks social media pages, this promotional is also advertising “The Muppets Mayhem,” streaming May 10 on Disney+.
The two Muppet pals visit Pandora, Festival of the Lion King, and Expedition Everest at night, learning about porcupines and meeting a Yeti along the way. Animal seems to humorously believe the park belongs to him, since it holds his namesake, and particularly loves riding the Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. After a busy and fun-filled night, the pair end at the Tree of Life, where an exhausted Animal decides it’s time for some sleep.
Animal Kingdom’s Silver Jubilee
2023 is the 25th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and the park has already announced various special offerings, snacks, merchandise, and commemorations for the event.
The Animal Kingdom 25th anniversary collection will be released at Island Mercantile, Discovery Trading Company, and Mombasa Marketplace on Earth Day, April 22. This is the same day the park had its grand opening in 1998. The assortment of products includes a Spirit Jersey, tumbler, pocket tee, and button-up shirts.
Disney PhotoPass will offer both Earth Month and 25th anniversary photo ops around Animal Kingdom starting tomorrow. These include special props, Magic Shots, and more. Another highly anticipated photo op — the Moana meet and greet — will begin on April 22.
From April 16 to April 23, Wilderness Explorers have the chance to earn a special badge by completing a limited-time nature challenge. More information is available at any of the Wilderness Explorer locations.
A limited edition (of one thousand) pin set for D23 Gold Members was announced earlier this week, and is set to arrive on shopDisney April 18 at 8 a.m. PST. For regular guests, a separate limited edition Earth Month pin is available for purchase in the park right now.
