Guests can once again meet with Buzz Lightyear near Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. Buzz is sporting his updated look as well.
Buzz Lightyear Meet and Greet
Located in Tomorrowland, guests at Magic Kingdom may meet Buzz Lightyear in front of the Space Ranger Map. Since the parks reopened after the COVID-19 closure, Buzz was only available as a “character sighting” from afar.
Buzz has been available to meet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for several months. He only now returned to Magic Kingdom for guests to interact with.
Buzz is featuring his new look, which debuted in American parks in February 2022, but made its first debut internationally, at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2021. A photo of his old costume is below for comparison.
The primary costume changes don’t come with the Space Ranger uniform, though there are a few adjustments there; the biggest change is to the shape of Buzz’s face and the softness of his facial features. His face is wider overall, and his facial features are a little less pronounced. His new suit is also a bit slimmer, and overall his newer look is more true to the version we know from “Toy Story.” We’d love to see your opinions on the costume change in the comments.
Buzz stood in action-ready poses for us after we asked to take a couple of photos. This meet and greet location is situated in Tomorrowland near the back of the land, beneath a section of the Peoplemover track.
Buzz had lots of energy for us. We have a video of our meet and greet with him for you to enjoy below.
Guests can also see a version of Buzz Lightyear as projections on an animatronic in Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
