REVIEW: Dive Into the New Sand Pail Sundae at Typhoon Lagoon

We tasted the Sand Pail Sundae in a new pail from Happy Landings Ice Cream at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and have a full rundown for you. Let’s check it out.

The Sand Pail Sundae is a fully-loaded ice cream dessert that’s served in a take home plastic sand bucket. The sand pail has a new pattern printed on the exterior.

The treat towers over the top of the bucket. The bottom of the container has indentations for making a proper sand castle. Minnie poses on one side atop turquoise waters, snowflakes, and hibiscus flowers.

This sundae comes with a lot of ice cream. It’s similar to sundaes we’ve seen at Typhoon Lagoon before, but brownie pieces are no longer included.

Instead, they’ve added vanilla cake, which we thought was a little soggy and didn’t really add anything good to the dessert. This is a very sweet sundae. We’d recommend it for a family of four or more; it’s pretty challenging to finish this solo.

Mickey Mouse is also featured on the bucket pattern alongside three park original characters: Ice Gator, Buttons and Duncan. Snowflakes, tropical leaves, and hibiscus flowers pattern the background. We thought the new pail design was more exciting than the dessert inside.

We actually miss the blue ice cream from the previous sundae that we reviewed in early April. This version is just vanilla and chocolate swirl. It’s nothing fancy.

New Sand Pail Character Design

Three park-original characters are featured on this sand pail, which we thought was a great addition. This same characters can be spotted on a new, One-Day Refillable Mug as well.

Ice Gator

Ice Gator from Blizzard Beach is pictured in the center above. He’s sporting an inner tube, a striped scarf and a Santa hat. He is known for his love of snow and ice. According to the Blizzard Beach backstory, Ice Gator was a resident of the Florida swamps who stumbled upon Blizzard Beach during a particularly cold winter. He was so enamored with the snow and ice that he decided to stay and make the park his home.

Buttons

Buttons, the youngest member of the snowman family near the Blizzard Beach entrance, also gets a spot on this bucket. She is holding hands with Mickey Mouse and has a big grin on her face. She’s sporting her usual pink overalls with yellow buttons.

A statue of her with her family is available for guest photos near the Blizzard Beach Entrance.

Duncan

Last is Duncan, the parrot from the attraction Miss Adventure Falls at Typhoon Lagoon. He is just visible on the far left above. Miss Adventure Falls is a family-friendly raft ride that entertains guests with a story about another water park character, Captain Mary Oceaneer alongside her pet parrot. We have a full POV ride video below for you to check out.

The pattern is a very similar design to the one featured on the One-Day Refillable Mug available at Typhoon Lagoon, shown below. This image does not feature the 50th Anniversary Celebration logo, as the party ended in late March.
