With the 25th anniversary of Disney’s “Mulan” occurring this month, D23 is releasing a limited edition pin and medallion for the occasion.

Since its theatrical release in 1998, ‘Mulan’ has been one of the most popular films in Disney’s library of works. The titular character, Mulan, is a fan-favorite Disney Princess, inspiring enthusiasts to “discover and channel that which makes them truly brave.”

For those who have missed out on this film so far, Disney describes the premise of their “Mulan” adaptation below:

When her ailing father is called upon to fight in a turbulent war against the ruthless Huns, Mulan does the unthinkable—she takes his place, disguising herself as a male soldier in the Chinese Army. Accompanied by a lucky cricket and fast-talking dragon sent by her ancestors, Mulan must fearlessly fight alongside her fellow troops, led by Army-General Li-Shang, and defend her country as well as her family’s honor.

“Mulan” is based on a legendary heroine (Hua Mulan, 花木蘭, or 花木兰) from real Chinese folklore between the 4th and 6th century CE. A live-action film loosely based on the animated adaptation was released by Disney in 2020.

D23-Exclusive Mulan 25th Anniversary Pin

One of the two items to premiere from D23 for this occasion is a Gold Member-exclusive cloisonné pin. It features Mulan as Ping, Mushu (her dragon companion), and cricket Cri-kee perched upon her shoulder. It comes on an illustrated backer card inspired by the Fa Family Garden. Fans will remember this location as the place in which Mulan reflected on who she truly was inside, deciding to fight for her family in her father’s place.
