As Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland Resort is transformed into the reimagined Pixar Place Hotel, more themed elements are being installed.

The exterior of the hotel has been completely repainted pearl white, with a few stripes of color.

Only this awning (blocked by green scrim) is still the old off-yellow color.

The colored stripes and medallion accents are red, yellow, and blue.

They match the colorful mosaic design of the porte-cochère.

The nearly-complete Pixar Place Hotel lobby opened last month, but there are still final touches being added. The hotel is still officially known by its Paradise Pier moniker.

In this seating area that looks like it will eventually be a breakfast café, glass panes of concept art have been installed on the walls.

The concept art is depicted against yellow, orange, blue, and red backgrounds. They sit against the lines and icons that we previously spotted in our lobby tour.

The concept art is from various Pixar films, including “Up,” “WALL-E,” “Cars,” “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles,” and “Monsters, Inc.”

Crews were working in the area, so we couldn’t get very close.

There is additional concept art from “Brave” and “Toy Story” on this wall.

Another wall features concept art from newer films, including “Turning Red,” “Luca,” “Soul,” “Coco,” and “Inside Out.”

Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel Transformation

The reimagining of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel into Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel is to be completed this winter. The project was first announced at the D23 Expo in 2022.

We saw the sign for the hotel removed in September of last year.

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel has endured several changes over the years, and was not a Disneyland Resort property until 1995, when it became the Disneyland Pacific Hotel. Just before Disney California Adventure (at the time Disney’s California Adventure Park) opened in 2001, the hotel swapped names again to reflect the Paradise Pier area it was now resting behind. When Paradise Pier became Pixar Pier in 2018, it seemed only inevitable that another modification would occur.

Guests will be welcomed into whimsical character moments, like the iconic, playful Pixar lamp (Luxo Jr.) balancing atop its ball in the lobby, as seen above. Right now, there’s just a plant sitting in this spot in the lobby, though Luxo Jr. is still set to be installed, as is a character mobile.

The reimagining of the hotel will weave the artistry of Pixar into its contemporary setting. The goal is to give guests a new perspective on some of their favorite Pixar worlds and characters through carefully curated artwork and décor that reveals the creative journey of the artists who helped bring these stories to life.

The announcement comes following the leak of original plans to turn the hotel into a “Toy Story” one, but Disney eventually opted to represent all Pixar franchises instead.

The lobby will continue to evolve over the next few months, and will begin to blend Pixar imagery with the hotel’s contemporary setting. When the transformation is complete, iconic images from Pixar films will be at the front desk, with characters pictured as “larger than life.”

A splash pad themed to “Finding Nemo” is part of the retheming of the property. Concept art shows “Finding Nemo” characters on the splash pad, including Crush atop a waterslide.

Later this year, a family play court will be added to the deck with activities inspired by Pixar’s famous short films. Interactive games and imaginative free play will celebrate favorite friends from “La Luna,” “Bao,” “For the Birds,” and “Burrow.” Guests may also be able to relax and enjoy food and drinks under the love-struck umbrellas from “The Blue Umbrella.”

This fall, the hotel will unveil a new restaurant at the resort, Great Maple. It’s not actually Pixar-inspired, though this Southern California-based modern American eatery will specialize in playful takes on upscale comfort food. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day, the ground-floor restaurant will be open to the public.
