Potential Stand-By Extended Queue Set Up at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Disney has set up an extended queue at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, potentially for the debut of a stand-by queue at the attraction.

Stanchions have been installed outside, between the attraction’s main entrance and Connections Eatery.

There are also white benches, trash cans, and umbrellas in the area.

Chains connecting the stanchions can be reconfigured to arrange the queue in different ways.

The extended outdoor queue is not yet in use, but could mean Disney is planning on opening a stand-by queue for the attraction for the first time, and is anticipating long lines.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has so far only used Lightning Lane and virtual queue. While the virtual queue was frequently filling up within seconds during the ride’s first several months of operation, it has recently remained open until almost 8:00 p.m.

With demand for the coaster seemingly winding down, it would make sense for Disney to finally open a stand-by queue so any guest can get in line at any point throughout the day.

Guests can purchase à la carte Individual Lightning Lane access to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, meaning it is not an option included in the single Genie+ purchase.

How do you feel about the queue options for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind? Let us know in the comments.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Cosmic Rewind is an indoor roller coaster at EPCOT, and the first attraction at Walt Disney World to feature characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It notably features a backward launch and randomized selection of six songs from the 70s and 80s guests could potentially hear during their ride. We have a full ride POV with the queue and pre-show available below:

Virtual Queue

Guests can join the virtual queue via the My Disney Experience app. When they join, they are assigned a boarding group and told an approximate return time. When the boarding group is called in My Disney Experience, guests can report to the attraction within the provided timeframe to ride it. Guests may need to still wait in a physical queue at the attraction. Currently, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run use virtual queues at Walt Disney World.

Individual Lightning Lane

With Individual Lightning Lane, guests can purchase a time for their party to arrive at a few specific attractions. The Disney Genie Tip Board will tell guests when the next Lightning Lane window is for eligible attractions. The Tip Board will clarify which attractions are available individually and which are available through Genie+. Visiting an attraction’s landing page within the app will also show an option for booking Lightning Lane.

See our guide here for step-by-step instructions to purchase Individual Lightning Lane.

The following Walt Disney World attractions use Individual Lightning Lane:

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • TRON Lightcycle / Run
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Avatar Flight of Passage

  1. I think the virual queue is awesome. It allows time to do other things in the park so you wait for your turn to ride. I think more rides need a virual queue as some of the line wait times are out of control. Not every family can afford a lighting pass to ride their favorite ride. The virual queue gives equal opportunity for riders to get a chance to ride without spending half there day in a line.

  3. That seems to be a very hot looking line. I can’t imagine standing in it during the heat of the day – fully exposed.
