Two new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind pins are available at EPCOT. We found them in Creations Shop, but you may also see them in the Treasures of Xandar gift shop.

Both pins come on a Wonders of Xandar backing card. Wonders of Xandar is the new name of what was once the Universe of Energy Pavilion.

This pin features the pavilion with the Benatar spaceship taking off above it and palm trees to the sides. “Guardians of the Galaxy” is across the bottom in orange lettering. The muted retro colors are in the style of old EPCOT Center merchandise and graphics.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a thrilling high-speed, turbulent, ‘roller coaster-type ride’ that goes forward and backward through the dark. It includes sharp turns, sudden drops, and stops. The attraction officially opened at EPCOT on May 27, 2022.

The ride is located in the Wonders of Xandar pavilion in World Discovery at EPCOT. The building was the former location of Ellen’s Energy Adventure.

Cosmic Rewind Queue and Pre-shows

Once inside, guests enter the Galaxarium. The large screen above changes as part of a presentation on Xandar. Next, they head into the Xandar Gallery. The Xandarians incorporated some of the design principles of EPCOT into their city planning, as seen in a presentation here. Walt Disney’s original presentation of EPCOT is featured.

A screen in the queue features footage from “Good Morning Xandar,” a morning talk show where the host has interviewed the Guardians regarding their defeat of Ronan and the Kree.

During his interview, Star-Lord expresses excitement about returning to EPCOT to ride attractions like Horizons, Universe of Energy, and catch a viewing of Kitchen Kabaret. (Unfortunately, Quill hasn’t been updated on what’s open… and what’s long gone.)

The pre-show room is also the pavilion’s welcome center. This is where guests are introduced to the Cosmic Generator and are invited aboard a starship. To get to the ship, they must enter the Phase Chamber and be transported. Unfortunately, things have gone very wrong when we arrive on the Nova Corps ship, and we tourists must board a Starjumper ride vehicle to assist the Guardians of the Galaxy in defeating Eson.

Ride Experience

Each ride features an 80s-era soundtrack. The song is randomized, so you may hear a different one on each ride. The options are:

  • “September”
  • “Disco Inferno”
  • “Conga”
  • “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”
  • “I Ran”
  • “One Way or Another”

During the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, the attraction featured a Holiday Remix overlay complete with an original song, “Run, Rocket, Run.”

Sean Gunn, an actor in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, had some critical words to say toward Disney CEO Bob Iger after the executive called the demands of writers and actors “not realistic”.
