Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge blueprints and other construction documents were recently auctioned off by Van Eaton Galleries. The pack of documents went for about $6,000 but Van Eaton Galleries shared images of some of the documents, which feature unbuilt projects including a table-service restaurant and shops.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Blueprint Documents

This is Van Eaton’s description of the item:

(Disneyland, 2018) An (83) page contract document release prepared for Bid & Construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The collection of documents contains numerous images of props designed for the Droid Foundry, Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, Souk Marketplace, and the Cantina, and were prepared by Walt Disney Imagineering. Measuring 11″x17″, the documents are in good condition, with wear to edges and corners throughout from handling and age.

Writer and designer Nick Tierce shared on Twitter that he got to see the pages privately before they were sold and said the preview images show everything that wasn’t built, while the rest of the documents were about signage.

The blueprints show the table-service restaurant located next to Oga’s Cantina. We previously learned about the table-service restaurant thanks to “The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” coffee-table book by Amy Ratcliffe, although concept art was released back in 2016.

The table-service restaurant would have been called the “Kalikori Club.” It would have been operating out of a converted two-level bathhouse. Chris Beatty of Walt Disney Imagineering described it as “almost a speak-easy.” Concept art in the book depicted a blue Twi’lek woman who was both owner and entertainment at the restaurant. The dinner show idea for the Kalikori Club was adapted for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, becoming “An Evening with Gaya.” Unfortunately, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is closing permanently this September.

“The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” also revealed a Spice Den lounge, which would have featured a two-story aquarium with kelp visible on top that was revealed to be a sea monster at the bottom.

The blueprints also show shops labeled “Explorer” and “Tailor” near Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, Savi’s Workshop, and Droid Depot (labeled “Antiquarian,” “Saber,” and “Droid Foundry” respectively).

A small clothing shop does exist in the form of Black Spire Outfitters in the Black Spire Outpost Market, but the tailor shop would have been larger — about the same size as Dok-Ondar’s. The “explorer” store was also bigger than the marketplace shops.

The blueprints also include the completed market, restrooms, and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.

The document previews also gave a look at concepts for various Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge signs and details, some of which came to fruition.

There are concept images of droid arms connecting to ports. Roaming, interactive droids were scrapped from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge plans, although Disney did briefly test a roaming R2-D2 in early 2020.

Not included in the preview images, but maybe in the auctioned documents, is therii Elee, a giant creature that would have carried guests around the land.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is nearly identical at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but Walt Disney Imagineering briefly considered making them different.
