New ‘Ahsoka’ Disney PhotoPass Magic Shots, Lens Available for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

If you fell in love with the first practical depiction of a loth cat while tuning into the two-episode premiere of “Ahsoka” on Disney+ on August 22, you’re in luck. Disney PhotoPass has introduced two new “Ahsoka”-inspired Magic Shots and a new Lens at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both the Disneyland Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in conjunction with the show’s premiere.

Disney PhotoPass shared the news on the service’s official Instagram account Wednesday evening.

One of the Magic Shots places guests next to a loth-cat, a species of cat native to the planet Lothal. Loth-cats were seen occasionally throughout “Star Wars Rebels,” an animated series that aired on Disney XD from 2014–2018, and one appeared as the pet of Sabine Wren during the two-episode premiere of “Ahsoka” on Disney+.

The other Magic Shot is available in front of the Millenium Falcon and allows guests to appear in a photo with Chopper, a rambunctious droid who is a major character in the “Star Wars Rebels” series. Chopper also appeared in the “Ahsoka” premiere episodes as a companion of General Hera Syndulla.

The Disney PhotoPass Lens places guests inside a clone trooper uniform. Clone troopers fought alongside Ahsoka and other Jedi during the Clone Wars, betraying them after Emperor Palpatine called for Order 66, the order that aimed to eliminate all Jedi. The lens is available in the My Disney Experience and Disneyland mobile applications and is only accessible with the purchase of Disney Genie+.

Disney PhotoPass has introduced Magic Shots for several special events in the past, typically holidays. Several Halloween-themed Magic Shots are available exclusively to those who attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, and festive Christmas-centric Magic shots were offered at EPCOT last year.

Ahsoka at Disney Parks

Ahsoka Tano’s presence at Disney Parks has increased thanks to the recent premiere of “Ahsoka” on Disney+. The character made her Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge debut on August 23, meeting with guests outside of the Black Spire Outpost marketplace for roughly 15 minutes. She appeared exclusively in the Disneyland version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and whether or not she will ultimately appear in the Walt Disney World version has yet to be confirmed.

Ahsoka-centric merchandise has long been available at Disney Parks; in late 2022, a headband that combined Mickey Mouse ears with Ahsoka’s iconic lekku (her three head-tails) was introduced at The Star Trader in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. Her lightsabers have been available in heavy-duty legacy form at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for quite some time.

“Ahsoka” stars Rosario Dawson as the titular Togruta. A follow-up to “Star Wars Rebels,” “Ahsoka” follows the character as she enlists the aid of Sabine Wren (portrayed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo) to find Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), a Jedi who disappeared to the mysterious “world between worlds” at the conclusion of “Star Wars Rebels.” Thought to be trapped alongside Ezra is Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), a former Imperial official who, too, has seekers, and they yearn to see the now-fallen Empire regain control of the galaxy.
