At this morning’s “A Celebration of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” panel, an update on the Magic Kingdom expansion was shared.

The expansion project will be similar in scope to Pandora — The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and will be the biggest expansion in Magic Kingdom history.

Imagineers are “looking to tell stories ‘Beyond Big Thunder Mountain,'” with many new offerings being considered, like attractions, restaurants, shows, and more.

First announced last year at D23 Expo 2022, many new ideas were being considered for the “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” project, including lands themed to “Coco,” “Encanto,” and an entire area dedicated to Disney Villains. While still possible, it is plausible that “Encanto” is no longer on the table, with the concept now being proposed for DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

More details are expected to come on this project in the future.
