At Destination D23, guests heard first that World Celebration at EPCOT will open to all guests this December. The World Celebration is part of a larger EPCOT reimagining that has been ongoing for several years.
World Celebration
World Celebration encompasses the central area of the front portion of the park, labeled above in blue.
World Celebration will offer new experiences that “connect us to one another and the world around us.”
As you exit Spaceship Earth, you’ll discover a new view of World Showcase from Dreamers Point, home to a new statue celebrating the legacy of the original dreamer, Walt Disney, plus natural environments and global design elements filled with Disney magic and surprises, including a wishing tree in an enchanted forest and a story fountain celebrating the power and music of iconic Disney storytelling.
The Walt the Dreamer statue will be on a set of steps right behind Spaceship Earth. Many Disney Parks around the world feature statues of Walt Disney, but this one will be unique because he’s not accompanied by Mickey Mouse.
Another part of World Celebration to open later this year are CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza. The Plaza, pictured above, will be a space for the many seasonal festivals of EPCOT.
Disney100 offerings will begin at EPCOT on September 22. At that time, Mickey and Minnie will be meeting at the Imagination! Pavilion — despite the fact that CommuniCore Hall is set to have a more permanent Mickey & Friends meet-and-greet space. The building will also have a demo kitchen, mixology bar, and gallery space.
