You can now take a bit of Italy with you as you continue your journey around World Showcase Lagoon and the World Showcase neighborhood of EPCOT thanks to a new wine stand that recently debuted in the Italy Pavilion. The new cart offers several different types of wine in addition to other alcoholic beverages and water; it’s located in front of the Enoteca Castello wine shop toward the front of the pavilion.
New Wine Stand Debuts in Italy Pavilion
The green cart features hand-painted flowers and grapes across its facade. The hand-painted nature of the decorations and the aged wooden appearance of the cartwheels make the stand look vintage and allow it to seamlessly fit into the traditional Italian village aesthetic of the rest of the pavilion.
The stand is covered by a gray-and-yellow-striped awning. Bottles of wine and decorative wooden barrels are seen on both sides of the stand while wooden barrels appear on the pavement at its corners. They read “VINO” in thick white font; “vino,” of course, translates from Italian to English as “wine.”
There are also barrel decorations on each side of the stand’s supporting structure. They resemble barrel bottoms and read “In Vino Veritas” and “Vini Pregtiati,” which roughly translate to English as “In wine there is the truth” and “Fine Wines,” respectively.
The menu is bordered by a thick frame that’s been painted the same shade of green as the rest of the stand. Its color and texture give the menu the appearance of a chalkboard and, in theory, allow it to match the hand-decorated aesthetic of the rest of the cart, but the various fonts and unblemished wine and grape image in the corner reveal its printed nature.
The stand offers three different white wines and five different red wines, each of which are served as three-ounce pours. Each of the wines, with the exception of the Chardonnay, trace their base origins back to Italy; though Chardonnay originated in France, it’s commonly produced in Italy, as well.
Prosecco, Rose, Rosa Regale, and Peach Moscato are also offered in five-ounce flutes. The Prosseco is again used as in the Limoncello Spritzer; though Limoncello Spritzers typically contain club soda, this offering contains cherry juice.
Menabrea Blonde and Menbrea Amber beers are also offered as 12-ounce pours. Menabrea is an Italian brewery located in the northwestern region of the country; their blonde and amber beers are also served at Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria, a restaurant located in the Italy Pavilion.
Italy Pavilion
The Italy Pavilion is located nearly directly across World Showcase Lagoon from Showcase Plaza, which itself is located at the entrance of the World Showcase neighborhood. The Italy Pavilion, thus, is located toward the back of the neighborhood and is situated between the Germany Pavilion and The American Adventure.
The Italy Pavilion is one of several pavilions in World Showcase that does not contain an attraction. It contains several shops in addition to two table-service restaurants — Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria, which serves traditional Italian cuisine in addition to several Neapolitan-style pizzas, and Tutto Italia, which also serves standard Italian fare.
