The music is basically lifted directly from the original parade, which first debuted at Disneyland in California in 1972. Versions of the parade have since gone on to perform and return to various Disney Parks around the world, including Disneyland Paris.

The Disney Electrical Sky Parade is part of Disney Symphony of Colors, a celebration that will also include new character costumes and the daytime show A Million Splashes of Color, which will debut on February 10.

Disneyland Paris stated that Disney Electrical Sky Parade will have “[synchronized] drones, video projections, lights, and fountains across Sleeping Beauty Castle,” transforming the sky “into a palette of [colors] thanks to the vibrant illuminations above the castle.”

The “novelty will pay dazzling tribute to the Main Street Electrical Parade,” which ran at the park from its opening day in 1992 until March of 2003.

Roughly 500 drones will be utilized for the Disney Electrical Sky Parade, taking the shape of “various icons of the Main Street Electrical Parade, including Mickey Mouse and his friends’ dazzling train, Elliott the adorable dragon, and Cinderella’s carriage.”

Nighttime drone shows first debuted at Disneyland Paris in 2022 with the launch of Disney D-Light in celebration of the park’s 30th anniversary. The drone and projection display saw multi-colored drones create various shapes behind Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant and was well-received by audiences.

Disneyland Paris quickly expanded its usage of drones, debuting a drone show for the opening of Avengers Campus at Walt Disney Studios Park in July of 2022. “Avengers: Power of the Night,” a more permanent drone and projection show, ran at the park from January through May of this year before returning in September.

Disney Live Entertainment Parades and Spectaculars Executive Steve Davison recently spoke about Walt Disney Imagineering’s already-present and growing interest in drone technology for additional nighttime shows at Disney Parks, stating “drones are the next thing.”
