FIRST LOOK: Donkey Kong-Themed Roller Coaster Coming to Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan Will Feature Carts Jumping Tracks & An Encounter with Antagonist Tiki Tong

When Donkey Kong Country officially opens in Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan in Spring 2024, guests can look forward to immersing themselves fully in the world of Donkey Kong, including riding in a barrel-shaped cart and jumping tracks on the land’s Donkey Kong-themed roller coaster.

In today’s Kick-Off media presentation at Universal Studios Japan, attendees were treated to a bird’s eye view of the expansion, as well as animated concept video for the new Donkey Kong-themed roller coaster.

The presentation took guests from the outside of the Golden Temple, through a wild adventure in a cart shaped like a barrel from the video game series.

Brian Robinson, Chief Creative Officer for Universal Creative, said that the experience was unique.

A first of a kind attraction design that’s full of innovative and unexpected surprises will blast out of a barrel, dodge obstacles, and jump tracks in an immersive roller coaster experience you will never forget.

The other ride details he shared included that guests would encounter Tiki Tong, the leader of the Tiki Tak Tribe. In the concept art, Tiki Tong has ripped up the ride track.

  1. Disappointing this land isn’t based on the original trilogy. I don’t know who Tiki Tong is but it’s no King K. Rool or his many alter egos from the series that would have been so much more fun as an antagonist here *sigh*…
