The transformation from Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel to Pixar Place Hotel at Disneyland Resort is making progress, as a new Disney Vacation Club area and a sign for the new Sketch Pad Café have made their way to the hotel.
Pixar Place Hotel Transformation
On our recent visit, we saw some changes made to the lobby as the resort inches toward its January 30, 2024 opening date. Curtains that previously blocked the DVC area have been taken down.
The area has the same ceiling and lighting that can be found throughout the rest of the Pixar Place Hotel lobby.
The walls of the lobby are covered in sketches of iconic Pixar characters. This red section features Edna Mode of “The Incredibles” and Mei Lee in her red panda form from “Turning Red.”
Over at Sketch Pad Café, the sign for the lobby’s grab-and-go coffee shop has gone up.
Here, guests will find assorted pastries, coffee, and tea.
The seating area for Sketch Pad Café features a wall full of sketches of more Pixar characters, including WALL-E, Lightning McQueen from “Cars,” and Sulley from “Monsters, Inc.”
Sketch Pad Café is one of three new dining options opening with the Pixar Place Hotel. Great Maple, the hotel’s signature restaurant opened on November 15, 2023. Check out our brunch and dinner reviews. The third option, Small Bytes, will be a casual rooftop pool bar. It does not have a set opening date.
Earlier this month, Disney shared the first room tour inside of Pixar Place Hotel, giving guests a glimpse into what they can expect in the new year. First announced at the D23 Expo in 2022, the overhaul began in October of that year. The hotel has remained open throughout the transition. You can read our summary of the hotel’s steady transformation process here.
