CONFIRMED: Universal No Longer Offering Paper Theme Park Maps As of January 1, 2024

Confirming our previously reported rumor, Universal Orlando Resort is no longer offering guests paper theme park maps, instead requiring that they download the resort’s mobile app. This change began today, January 1, 2024.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), bioreconstruct shared photos of the two former paper map kiosks at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure.

What once held paper maps for guests to grab at their leisure now features advertisements for the resort’s mobile app, mentioning that guests can use it to find “wait times, show times, maps, & more.”

QR codes for the app in English, Spanish, and Portuguese are included for guests to capture with their phone’s camera for easy download.

Though the paper maps were convenient, they did create a large amount of waste, and many major companies have been making moves to become more environmentally friendly. However, not every guest has access to a smartphone to use the Universal Orlando mobile app.

Will you miss the paper maps at Universal Orlando Resort? Or do you prefer to use the resort’s mobile app on your phone? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
