REVIEW: Tiana’s Place Lunch on the Disney Wonder Delivers Delicious Soups, Bruschetta, Lamb Kofta Burger, and More

In addition to an amazing dinner, Tiana’s Place on the Disney Wonder also serves lunch for guests during the day. We dined at Tiana’s Place for lunch on the second day of our Alaska sailing.

Tiana’s Place

Tiana’s Place is themed to New Orleans and riverboats. It’s named after Tiana’s original restaurant concept. When she finally opened her restaurant, she named it Tiana’s Palace.

During dinner, there is live music and “The Princess and the Frog” characters, but there is no entertainment at lunch. However, it is a good time to take photos in the restaurant.

The restaurant features frog and lily pad-inspired sconces, bowls, and more.

Photos of Prince Naveen’s and Tiana’s families, as well as her original Tiana’s Place artwork and newspapers, are framed on the wall.

Tiana’s Place Menu

The lunch menu is also not themed to Mardi Gras and Louisiana fare like the dinner menu. As with all Disney Cruise Line meals, food and non-alcoholic, non-specialty beverages are included in the price of your sailing.

Bread Service

For lunch, guests get standard French bread and rolls with plain butter.

Small Plates

Sliced Serrano Ham

with Manchego Cheese and Tomato Bread

Sliced Serrano Ham with Manchego Cheese and Tomato Bread

The sliced ham and manchego cheese are buffet quality. We love manchego cheese, but it’s relatively lackluster here. The bruschetta (tomato bread) is the highlight. The bread is toasty and crispy on the outside but soft in the middle. It’s a little soggy from the tomato, which is seasoned well.

It’s fine for a starting dish.

Marinated Stem Artichokes

with Arugula, Cherry Tomatoes, and Basil-Lemon Vinaigrette

The artichoke is perfect. It has a crunch but it’s not too hard or too soft. It has great flavor and there’s just enough dressing to give it a nice vinegar taste. The arugula is solid. This is a good light and fresh starter.

Soups

French Lentil Soup

with Vegetables and Spiced Sausage served with a Crusty, Warm Baguette

French Lentil Soup with Baguette

This soup is salty and, as a lentil soup, grainy. Everything is cooked right. There’s a good amount of vegetables and the sausage breaks things up nicely.

French Lentil Soup

The baguette is fresh with a soft interior and crunchy exterior. This is a solid entry and we would have it again.

Mexican Tortilla Soup

with Black Beans and Fried Tortillas

Mexican Tortilla Soup

This soup is amazing. It’s spicy and exploding with flavor. You taste everything from the rich tomato to the pepper. There’s a good amount of beans.

Mexican Tortilla Soup close up

It’s kind of like a salsa and we wish we had tortilla chips on the side to dip in it. But it’s still perfect and probably the best thing we had on our sailing. The soups on Disney Cruise Line are always great, and we recommend trying all of them, no matter what ship you’re on.

Burgers

Lamb Kofta Burger

Ground Lamb and Beef with Onions, Garlic, Parsley and Spices on a Toasted Ciabatta Bun with Babaganoush, Pepper and Onion Relish, Feta cheese and French Fries

Lamb Kofta Burger with fries

The fries with all the burgers are shoestring fries. They’re nothing standout.

Lamb Kofta Burger toppings

This burger, on the other hand, is spectacular. The ciabatta bun is perfectly toasted to be crispy on the edges and soft inside. The patty is tender, moist, and bursting with spices. The cheese and babaganoush complement it well. This is probably the best lunch item that’s not soup.

The Impossible Cheeseburger

Plant-based Burger on Toasted Brioche Bun with Plant-based Cheddar, Iceberg Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Red Onions served with a Roasted Garlic Aioli and French Fries

The Impossible Cheeseburger and fries

This is a solid Impossible cheeseburger. It tastes like a genuine hamburger and the plant-based cheese tastes like sharp cheddar.

The Impossible Cheeseburger toppings

The toppings elevate it and they all come on a nice, fresh bun.

The Impossible Cheeseburger cheese

This is a good option.

Dessert

Warm Hazelnut Chocolate Molten Cake

served with rich Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream

Warm Hazelnut Chocolate Molten Cake with ice cream

This is an incredibly standard and forgettable version of a chocolate molten cake.

Picky eaters who just want a chocolate dessert will like it but we wouldn’t get it again.

Pecan Pie

Butterscotch Sauce and Whipped Cream

Pecan Pie with Butterscotch Sauce and Whipped Cream

It’s possible to get a pecan pie wrong and while this isn’t one of the best desserts ever, it’s a solid dessert. It’s like something you would get from a good grocery store. The butterscotch sauce makes it very sweet and it goes well with the whipped cream, which is great and not out of a can. There’s a good layer of pecan on the top and a thick layer of sweet cream filling. We would have this again.

Fresh Strawberry Mille Feuille

layers of Puff Pastry Crust, Vanilla Pastry Cream and fresh Strawberries

Fresh Strawberry Mille Feuille

The pastry of this dessert is a little tough but still buttery and flaky. It delivers a decent flavor. The pastry cream is solid but there is an artificial strawberry flavor that we don’t like. We wouldn’t get this again.
