A new sign has been added to the queue of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland Park, following reported issues with guests not realizing they are meant to sit with other parties.

We spotted the sign this afternoon when visiting the park, which depicts an illustration of the ride vehicle filled with five guests in each of the two rows. When we saw it, the sign was located in a corner by the “To Trains” signage before the load area.

The sign reads:

5 guests per row

Lap seating permitted

Be prepared to sit with another party

Reportedly, guests boarding the attraction have not realized that you are meant to fill in all available seats and potentially sit with other parties in the ride vehicle, rather than keeping your entire party to one row or one train car. Now these signs can help keep guests informed before getting to the load area.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opened on January 27, 2023 in the reimagined Mickey’s Toontown land at Disneyland Park. The ride is housed in the El CapiTOON Theater, which, according to the ride’s backstory, hosts “the Grand World Prem-EAR” of the Mickey Mouse short, “Perfect Picnic.”

The ride is a near-clone of the version that opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 4, 2020, replacing The Great Movie Ride. The attraction features Mickey and his friends as they are depicted in the Paul Rudish-created “Mickey Mouse” shorts, which were released from 2013-2023.

  1. This is a great reminder for guests. I feel they need to put these signs up on more rides. As a single rider, I’ve had people get annoyed with me trying to sit with them on numerous rides, including Radiator Springs Racers, Indiana Jones, and more. Even after being assigned to the row by cast members, I sometimes get dirty looks, people not moving all the way over, or flat out refusing me to sit with them (even other single riders, which happened to me on Big Thunder).
