A sign is up on the construction walls around the work being done for the Fast & Furious coaster. Officially announced in July 2023, though rumored to be coming for over a year before that announcement, there has been a lot of speculation about the details surrounding the coaster. One rumor was that the ride would be called Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift, though there has been no official confirmation.

During our visit in March 2024, crew members were actively working on the site. Near the entrance to Springfield, U.S.A., a large crane could be seen with crew members working on a long platform.

Deere excavators could be spotted toward the Upper Lot. The coaster will begin at the Upper Lot, with guests entering near the former site of Universal’s Animal Actors, before descending to the Lower Lot. The coaster will move up and down the hill, going between the two lots.

The coaster is being built into the hill, with a portion of the track looping over the center escalator that takes guests between lots. Universal has revealed via documents that the coaster will have two trains holding 16 people each, and the ride vehicles will have 360-degree rotation capabilities.

When news of the Fast & Furious roller coaster first broke, neighboring property owners in the area expressed concerns over noise pollution. Universal has since run sound testing to quell those concerns.
