Refurbishment continues on Prince Charming Regal Carrousel at Magic Kingdom, with new paint being applied to the canopy.

The attraction is located just behind Cinderella Castle, in the middle of Fantasyland.

As noted back in February when we first spotted work being done, scrim is still up around the canopy portion. This is because that section is getting repainted.

The scrim is being opened bit by bit as the paint job is underway. Here, you can see a section entirely stripped of its old paint, ready for the new paint to be applied.

We checked in on the progress over two days in March. On the first day, you could see that a new, bright gold paint had been applied. Shades of purple and blue had also been added.

Different panels on the canopy are at different stages of progress. This one is a bit further along.

In the above image, you can get a good look at the before and after. The newly painted side on the right is more vivid, with the gold accents looking brighter and more metallic than they were before.

Also during our first visit, we noticed a row of horses were roped off, with some covered in tarp.

The following day, more paint was applied, including metallic silver, pink, and white.

Here, you can see a section panel where just silver paint was added from one day to the next.

Additionally, some scrim was removed from the center of the carrousel, revealing the mirrors behind them.

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel is a Walt Disney World opening day attraction. When the park opened in 1971, it was called Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel. The carrousel was not built specifically for Walt Disney World. In fact, it was built over 50 years prior in 1917 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Co. Located behind Cinderella Castle, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel is a staple attraction of Fantasyland.
