Materials Cleared From CommuniCore Plaza as EPCOT Construction Nears Completion

There are still nearly two months to go before CommuniCore Hall and Plaza finally open at EPCOT, but it looks like exterior work is wrapping up.

It looks like most paneling has been installed on the building. There are some gaps in the white triangular Spaceship Earth-inspired panels, but these are purposeful.

We could see crew members on top of CommuniCore Hall during our Thursday visit. There is construction fencing and netting up there as construction work continues. A cherry picker was raised to the roof for crew.

Although most of the gaps in the triangles are purposeful, one small opening does not seem to be part of the Design. This is above the overhang that juts out around the Plaza. There are no other openings on this wall.

The opening may be for electrical work or something similar.

There are two long overhangs around two sides of CommuniCore Plaza. CommuniCore Hall is on a third side, leaving the fourth open. A stage is under the taller overhang jutting out from the Hall.

Columns and trees around CommuniCore Plaza

We previously reported on CommuniCore Hall and restroom signage installed on the building.

Artificial turf was installed in CommuniCore Plaza earlier this month. The turf creates large grassy spaces throughout the Plaza for guests to relax and play on.

Slanted white columns housing stage lights lean over the turf.

The Plaza stage is relatively low to the ground. It’s circular, with white triangular paneling around the other edge.

Most construction materials have been cleared from the Plaza. The cherry-picker vehicle and a scissor lift are parked near the building. We saw a couple of crew members near the stage.

It looks like work on the Plaza itself may be mostly complete while construction continues on CommuniCore Hall.

There are some temporary signs for crew members near the construction walls.

Trees line the Plaza right on the other side of the construction walls.

Concrete planters between the columns are full of palm trees and shrubbery.

CommuniCore Hall and Plaza will open on June 10. A limited-time “Encanto” sing-along will debut in the Plaza on the same day.

Crew members outside CommuniCore Hall

On the other side of CommuniCore Hall, we saw a few more crew members working near a planter.

CommuniCore Hall will be a flex space for festivals and house a permanent Mickey & Friends meet and greet. Mickey and Minnie currently meet at the Imagination Pavilion in their 100th anniversary outfits.

At night, Disney has tested lights on CommuniCore Hall.

Journey of Water station surrounded by dirt

Meanwhile, construction is still ongoing around the water station for Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana.” The land around the station is flattened dirt.

World Nature sidewalk

A new sidewalk was constructed between the station, Spaceship Earth, and World Nature. At least for now, this sidewalk is only open for Cast Members.

CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are named after the opening-day CommuniCore pavilions that later became Innoventions before being demolished during this EPCOT reimagining.
